Martha Cohen, C.M., B.A., D.S.W.

Martha Cohen's roots are in Calgary where she was born in 1920. Wlth her husband, Harry, she has raised four children, while maintaining an active community life.

Martha Cohen's contributions to community organizations in Calgary are many, diverse and outstanding. Some examples include: past Chairman of the Mount Royal College Board of Govenors during the period of planning, financing and constructing a new campus; past Executive Director of the Calgary Jewish Family Service during its formative years; and currently Chairman of the Board of the Calgary Centre for the Performing Arts during the planning, financing and constructing of this major facility. Mrs. Cohen is also Board Member and past Vice-Chairman of Old Sun College at Gleichen, Alberta and is a member of the Council of the Alberta Order of Excellence.

There have been many awards and honours in recognition of Martha Cohen's contributions to society including membership in the Order of Canada in 1975 and an honorary doctorate from the University of Calgary in 1982.
