Roger Jackson, B.A., M.P.E., Ph.D.

Originally a native of Ontario, where he was born in 1942, Roger Jackson has been the Dean, Faculty of Physical Education, University of Calgary since 1978.

In a city that is preparing to host the 1988 Winter Olympics, it is appropriate to recognize a man who not only has participated as an Olympic athlete in three Olympics, but with his partner George Hungerford, won the gold medal in rowing, pair oars, in the 1964 Olympics (Tokyo).

Dr. Jackson has received many awards for his various achievements in sports. He has also contributed his expertise and experience to the furtherance of sports.

In the scientific realm, Dr. Jackson has published over 50 articles, chapters and monographs concerning pulmonary and exercise physiology, and the physiology of sport.

Roger Jackson is currently the President, Canadian Olympic Association and a Director, XV Olympic Winter Games Organizing Committee.
