PPCLI Freedom of the City of Calgary Gallery

Departing Calgary City Hall, 1997

The Freedom of the City Ceremony now over, the PPCLI Drum Line leads the battalion on to Stephen Avenue and back to Mewata Armoury for a luncheon. The City of Calgary Administration Building is seen in the background. The historic Burns building is at the right. As a child I remember this intersection as busy with streetcars. Where the Administration Building now stands, the Princess Drug Store was on the corner and further east was the Variety theatre. On Friday nights the Variety had an amateur show and twin bill including serial and cowboy movies.
