Canadian Prairie Sentinels Gallery

Main Street, Fusilier, Saskatchewan, 1988

Following is a fascinating email received in April 2002 from a former resident of Fusilier:

Dear Mr. Palmer,

I thought you might be interested in seeing a couple of pictures of Fusilier when it was a viable hamlet. I'm thinking it has come up in the world - it has at least attained 'town' status in that it is now considered a Ghost Town! The picture taken on our front steps - my brother Roy, mother Isabelle, father Thomas and me (Rita).

This was of course a farming area with the drought in the '30's doing untold damage to the economy and the lives of the people on farms. My father gave out many groceries on credit with no hope of return because he couldn't see families without enought to eat.

Thank you for your interest. I'm so glad my daughter found you on the
internet.

Sincerely, Rita Allen
