Maj Douglas D. Perkins, CD, Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps

Major Perkins was with the advance elements of HQ 3 Canadian Infantry Division which went ashore shortly after the initial landings. They landed with a vehicle and sufficient equipment to establish a base of operations for the staff of the Assistant Director of Medical Services who had operated from the command ship during the assault. The base was established at Bernières-sur-Mer on D-Day and moved to Bény-sur-Mer next day.
