Capt Jack R. Heisler, The Regina Rifle Regiment
Mr. Heisler was a lieutenant commanding a platoon and landed with the
first wave of the Regina Rifles. His group arrived late because of mines
in the water, and he believes the crew of the Landing Craft were all killed
on the way back out to sea. Mr. Heisler took part in securing the village
of Courseulles and says there was a good deal of confusion there on the
night of the 6th with Canadians, French and Germans all in the village.
He also says his unit managed to liberate a number of 'Indian', (American-made)
motorcycles.....from the enemy.
