On the night of June 6/7, F/O Fulton was navigating a bomber whose target was a railway bridge on the Cherbourg Peninsula at Coutances, approximately 10 to 15 miles south of the American front. He was a member of 426 Squadron, 6 Bomber Group, based in Yorkshire, England.
