Dieppe Raid Gallery

The Dieppe raid on August 19, 1942 only lasted nine hours but cost nearly 1000 lives. The beach to the right was where the raid was centred. Forty-seven years later, lovers perch on the sea wall and young students inspect the beach under the guidance of their teachers. In the background can be seen the imposing cliffs from where large German guns fired on invaders from the sea.
