Haynecourt British Cemetery, 1989
Perhaps young Canadian need to be reminded that Canadian soldiers in WWI were part of the British Empire fighting under the Union Jack. However once inside the walls of this small cemetery you will see the maple leaf on the 265 grave markers of the Canadians. Canadians here died on September 28 and 29, and October 1 and 2, 1918 in the last weeks of WWI. The grave marker of S.J. Deline of Calgary's 10th Battalion is one of those shown here.
