Haynecourt British Cemetery Garden, 1989
Perhaps young Canadian need to be reminded that Canadian soldiers in WWI were part of the British Empire fighting under the Union Jack. However once inside the walls of this small cemetery you will see the maple leaf on the 265 grave markers of the Canadians. Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemeteries are tended impecably as is the vegetable garden outside the wall of this cemetery. Canadians here died on September 28 and 29, and October 1 and 2, 1918 in the last weeks of WWI.
