Le Régiment de la Chaudière Monument, Beny-sur-Mer, 1989

Le Régiment de la Chaudière landed with other Canadian troops on D-Day, 6 June, 1944. The residents of Bernières were surprised at being liberated by French speaking troops from Canada. Beny-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery is located nearby. There are 2044 Canadians buried who were killed in the D-Day landings and in the early stages of the Battle of Normandy.
