The Royal Winnipeg Rifles Monument, Courseulles-sur-Mer, 1989

The Royal Winnipeg Rifles lost heavily as they hit the beach in front of a German strongpoint covering the entrance to Courseulles harbour. Aided by tanks the Winnipegs pushed toward the pillboxes on the beach and the gun positions overlooking the harbour.
