Archie Brown, Calgary, AB, 1992

Born in 1887, Archie joined up in 1914 at Red Deer, AB. He servedwith the 5th Battalion and saw action at Ypres, and The Somme where he was wounded in 1916. Before WWI Archie worked on the Panama Canal in 1912 -1913. He was a single man all his life. He was amazed at the inventions of talking movies, the radio and television. He learned to drive at the age of 75 and quit at the age of 80. At the time I took his portrait he told me that he was "at peace with the world".
