Philip H. Downey, Point du Chêne, NB,1988

Born in 1891, Mr. Downey served with the 26th Battalion from 1914-1918. He remembers sleeping in a church basement in Ypres (1916?), going "over the top" during the Battle of Vimy Ridge in April 1917, and being gassed at Paschendaele in November, 1917.
