Willian Saunders Ferguson, Lillooet, BC, 1989

Born in 1896, Mr. Ferguson served with the 31st Battery, Canadian Artillery. He was in the Battles of the Somme, the Battle of Vimy Ridge and on the 11th of November, 1918, he was at Mons, France. He remembers being gassed with mustard gas in 1917 and spending 6 months in a hospital at Etaps, France. He was discharged in January 1919. In peacetime he worked for Ottawa Hydro for 43 years as a lineman, a foreman and chief Supervisor of several gangs. He came to Lillooet in 1964 to be near family.
