Walter Henry James, Calgary, AB, 1988

Born in Calgary in 1897, Walter originally served with the Canadian Scottish 16th Battalion. He was wounded in April 9th, 1917 during the Battle of Vimy Ridge. He laid out all night and the next day before being picked up. He recuperated in England and then served as a groom with the Fort Garry Horse in 2 or 3 more calvary actions. After the war he rode in the first Calgary Stampede parade.
