
Elizabeth F. Tayler, Edmonton, AB, 1988
Born in 1891 at Fort Macleod, AB. She graduated from Galt Hospital in
Lethbridge in 1913. She worked as a private nurse and was married May 27,
1916. She enlisted with the Canadian Army Medical Corps in 1915. She went
to England at her own expense in September 1916 and her son was born there
in May 1918. She worked with the British Red Cross from January to October
1917. From October 1917 to April 1918 she worked at Bramshott Hospital (
Canadian Army) for the Canadian Red Cross. Her husband Arnold fought in
the Battle of Vimy Ridge in April 1917. In peacetime she worked for many
volunteer organizations including the Victorian Order of Nurses, the Society
for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Canadian Nursing Sisters.
In 1945 she received the Citizenship Award from the Edmonton Junior Chamber
of Commerce.
