"Chuck" Mawer won the Distinguished Service Cross in his role as a Gunnery Control Officer on HMCS Haida, in an engagement with an enemy destroyer on June 9, 1944. The Haida now rests in Toronto harbour as a floating war memorial. The photograph is taken in the back yard of Mawer's house in Calgary.
