Lucien Turcotte served in WWII as an officer of the Royal 22nd Regiment. He is seen pointing to the regimental colours represented in the candles. The photograph was taken in the officers' mess of the regiment in The Citadel in Quebec City. The motto of the regiment is "je me souviens".
